SARAH MOSHMAN, 27, a true television producer, has disappointed the industry that she believed only contributed to the objectification of women. She and her four friendly producers Ashley Hammen (29) and Dana Michelle Cook (34) and filmmakers Alana Fickes (25) and Vanessa Crocini (31), who decided to focus on women and girls, deserve better examples than Real Housewives. “As the saying goes: If you dont see it, you cant be it,” says Moshman. After raising more than $28,000 on Kickstarter, the entire film crew spent 34 days traveling across the United States to interview 17 inspirational women, including actress Jane Lynch; mathematician Ami Radunska; Sandra Clifford, a pilot and co-founder of Women in Aviation; and U.S. Ambassador Michelle Howard, the first African American woman to command a U.S. Navy ship. “Our film is like a bad day at work,” says Moshman. The upcoming documentary film, called Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things, will begin testing in schools, womens organizations, and community centers this month and will be shown at film festivals later this year.
